Crashproofing: Paint Touch Up - do it yourself

What kind of paint do you use to touch up your planes?

Mostly we get our touch-up paint from Home Depot (flat) and Lowes (satin) in 7 oz containers. (They mix a sample for you and it's inexpensive about $4.00 a container.) Bring a small, flat piece of your plane into the store (like a vertical tail piece) and they can scan it and usually do a fairly close color match. Some colors come out closer than others. What we do then is buy an inexpensive kit of primary color acrylics and add a touch of white, black or whatever color it needs to create the perfect color. Remember the color changes when the paint dries.
